How
to Transfer Your Domain Name
Domain Transfer is a process to transfer / change your
domain registration from your existing Registrar to
another new Registrar.
You may use the domain name transfer process to submit
an automatic request for a domain name transfer from
your existing registrar to a new registrar.
Transferring a domain name to a new registar means
that you are choosing them as the registrar of record
for that domain name.
If you want to transfer to another Registrar, you will
have to contact the "new" Registrar to begin
the transfer process.
If you do choose to switch to a new Registrar, please
be aware that any existing services the domain is using
such as URL Forwarding, Email Forwarding, and DNS-DIY
service -- will be terminated and / or disrupted upon
successful completion of the transfer..
Causes in delays of transfers:
- If the e-mail address of the current administrative
contact for the domain is invalid, registrant won't
receive the confirmation e-mail and won't be able
to confirm the transfer.
The losing registrar can deny a transfer for several
reasons:
- Evidence of fraud;
- UDRP Action
- Count order by court of competent jurisdiction
- Reasonable dispute over the identity of the Registrant
or Administrative Contact
- No payment for previous registration period (including
credit card charge-backs) if the domain name is past
its
- expiration date or for previous or current registration
periods if the domain name has not yet expired.
- Express written objection to the transfer from the
Transfer contact.
- A domain name was already in ??Lock?? status.
- A domain name is in the first 60 days of an initial
registration period.
- A domain name is within 60 days after being transferred.
In order to transfer domains:
1. You must have access to the administrative contact
email address on file for the domain name. During the
transfer process, you will be required to confirm the
transfer request via email. The confirmation message
will be sent to the administrative contact email address
on file with the current registrar for the domain name;
if you do not have access to this email address, please
contact your current registrar for information on changing
it before initiating a Transfer of Registrar request.
2. You may NOT transfer a Domain Name if that name
was registered or transferred within the past 60 days
or if that name, or any information associated with
it, is currently in dispute
3. com/net domain names can only be registered for
a term not to exceed 10 years.
